Kotor and Perast tour
This tour includes a walk around the Old Town of Kotor and visiting Perast, the most picturesque baroque town on the whole Adriatic coast. After we have welcomed you and introduced ourselves, we start the tour with a walk through the Old Town of Kotor and its narrow streets. You are going to hear about its long history and rich culture and see magnificent palaces that belonged to rich noble families in the period between 13th and 18th century. We are also going to visit the St. Tryphon Cathedral and its interior. The Cathedral dates from 1166., which means it was built 326 years before the discovery of America, 179 years before the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and 542 years before the St.Paul's Cathedral in London, or 460 before Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican. We are also going to visit the Maritime Museum in the Old Town where you will hear about our long maritime tradition, dating from the 12th century. After the visit to Kotor, a town which was inscribed on UNESCO list of World Cultural heritage in 1979., and has been under its protection ever since, we get into the car and take a drive along Boka Bay, towards Perast. There we are going to get into a boat which will bring us to the artificial island, built in the 15th century. We are going to visit the Church of Our Lady of the Rock, and the museum built on the island. You are going to hear an extremely interesting and emotional story about the creation of the island, its importance throughout centuries which remained to present days. The Church is a shrine and a treasury which houses the biggest world collection of the silver votive tablets. We are also going for a walk along the coast and you will see palaces of rich noble families of Perast as well as hear stories about them. Finally, we are coming back to Kotor but first, we stop on the hill above the Old Town to enjoy the unique panoramic view of the Kotor Bay.We are coming to the starting point and finish the tour, hopefully to everyone's satisfaction.
Notes: This tour implies a very pleasant and relaxing walk without climbing stairs (apart from a few ones in St.Tryphon's Cathedral). To enter the Cathedral you only have to cover your shoulders and knees. During summer months June, July, August and even September, average temperatures are around 37-39 °C and the temperature of the sea is around 26°C. Therefore we advise you to take bathing towels, swimsuits and sun-protecting cream since we are planning to offer you to visit some of the beaches. If you decide to accept this offer, it is important to mention that you don't pay additionally for this service.
